 Civil applications

Heavy-metal-free primary explosive for detonators

NanoPyro has developed and perfected a new primary explosive designed for civilian detonators used in construction sites, mines, and quarries.

This explosive is intended to replace lead azide and is based on the patented Composite NanoeXplosive (CNX) technology.

The Benefits of CNX for Detonators (CNX-Det)

  • Production using a very simple process
  • No production residues
  • Use of readily available precursors
  • Safer to handle than lead azide
  • Free of heavy metals, compliant with the REACH Regulation
  • Cheaper than lead azide

NanoPyro also offers technology transfer and specialized equipment that enables the CNX-Det to be manufactured directly at the detonator manufacturer’s facility.

 Defense applications

Combustion modifiers for solid propellants

NanoPyro is researching various additives designed to improve the performance of propellants used in rocket and space rocket engines.

Objectives:

  • combustion modifier,
  • improvement in mechanical properties,
  • maintaining characteristics as the product ages.

Priming composition

Building on its work in civilian applications, NanoPyro is developing formulations for the manufacture of ammunition primers that are free of lead and heavy metals.

In addition to developing new materials, NanoPyro supports technology transfer to enable on-site industrialization, tailored to the client’s specific requirements, the application, and the regulatory environment.
